About this hotel

This spacious French-designed five-star resort is a good option for a quiet family getaway and offers a spa, children’s centre, sport facilities including a Gary Player-designed 18-hole golf course and easy access to a beach.

Hotel/Riad Location

Tucked away on a secluded rural patch, the resort is about a 15-minute drive from the airport, and a five to 10-minute drive from the tourist attractions of Essaouira, including the historic port area and souks within the Unesco-designated 18th-century old city.

Accomodation’s Design

Modern and stylish, with colourful furnishings, wall art and rustic, classic touches, from Moroccan style lamps and Mashrabiya designs to tree-shaped pillars. The spacious lobby features a floor-to-ceiling glass wall offering a dramatic view of the hotel’s large outdoor pool and the golf course beyond.

Services and Amenities

Facilities include three swimming pools, a spa, including a hammam, an adjacent 18-hole golf course and tennis court. The small but sufficiently equipped gym didn’t feel well staffed, with only a single towel available and no staff around nearly two hours after its opening. The service is cordial but can feel a bit slow (it took about 30 minutes for luggage to arrive in the room and to replace a broken hairdryer, after being told they’d arrive straight away).

Suites and Rooms

The spacious rooms feature bold, bright shades of blue, orange, lime green and yellow, with plush, comfy beds, a sliding glass French window and large terrace offering views of the garden, pool or golf course. Two of its 28 chic secluded villas, featuring a secluded pool and butler service, have been designed by the French sport brand Lacoste.

Rooms are in good condition overall, but there were a few tired looking corners in the shower and ants crowded around the bin, and the operating the taps was not straightforward.

Hospitality and Cuisine

Its four restaurants include the poolside Atlantique, serving Italian-inspired dishes with local touches such as a creamy Moroccan saffron risotto; and Le Cafe Kasbah serving a well-stocked international breakfast buffet. Mains from £8-£12. The two-floor SoLounge bar/club has a large stage, dance floor and sound system; best avoided if you want a quiet drink.

Special Needs Access

There are four rooms available for guests with disabilities. The building offers ramp and wheelchair access.

Is this place family-friendly?

Very. The 28 ‘family rooms’ can accommodate cribs and extra beds (available on request), with most allowing direct access between suites and adjacent rooms via a connecting door. Rooms for children can be booked with a 50 per cent discount. There is a kids’ club for children between the ages of four and 12, offering childcare services, plus a separate play area for children older than 12.
