The American Legation Museum, also in the medina, documents new diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Morocco in an 1821 Moorish-style former consulate. In this cavern, Hercules allegedly rested during his labor with an opening in the shape of the African continent, as well as the 1000ft site above sea level at the entrance of the strait of Gibraltar. The visit also includes the Kasbah museum which used to be the house of the former sultan's palace of Dar El Makhzen from prehistoric times to the 19th century enjoying the charming Andalusian garden. The final stop is Chefchaouen, the blue-washed buildings of its old town.
