About this hotel

Like a mini-Medina Mamounia, this multi-riad maison d’hôtes has 14 luxurious suites, a spa, hammam, two pools and multiple marble patios planted with banana palms and citrus trees. To top it off, there’s a fantastic, multi-level terrace with unimpeded views of the Atlas Mountains.

Hotel/Riad Location

Situated off-the-beaten track near the Sidi Ben Slimane mosque, it’s quite a walk to the Djemaa el-Fna (25 minutes) and the souks (20 minutes). That said, this is a quiet and delightful residential quarter. To ensure guests don’t get lost, the riad provides a mobile phone and is happy to send staff to guide guests. Taxis can be picked up near the mosque.

Accomodation’s Design

Step into marble courtyards where chic urbanites sit chatting in photogenic, all-white bhous (seating nooks) or beneath citrus trees by a turquoise pool and you’ll instantly suspect the Italian hand behind Riad Kheirredine. Renovated from the ground up, this maison d’hôtes offers contemporary comfort within a classic setting. Salons have been reshaped and fitted with large French doors for subtle and warmth while the three courtyards have been reoriented to serve specific needs – one is a reception, another is has a pool and bar, and the third is a tiled garden accommodating the restaurant. Multiple staircases serve bedrooms across three storeys, and end on the great roof terrace, which acts as an outdoor living space, replete with loungers, shaded seating areas, a heated pool and a restaurant. It’s one of the best in Marrakech.

Services and Amenities

With around 35 staff members, this riad runs like a hotel. In the office, there are two smart and responsive receptionists who spare no amount of effort booking tours, restaurants and excursions. The great service is complemented by impressive facilities for the old city: two pools (one on the ground floor and one of the roof terrace), a hammam, a fully serviced spa and a restaurant. Other nice touches also mark this place apart, free water is handed out liberally, mint tea and pastries await your every return, there’s a free laundry service on arrival, courtesy rooms for late departures and free airport transfers for bookings of four days or more.

Suites and Rooms

Minibars and Bluetooth music systems meet Berber baroque in Riad Kheirredine’s 14 luxury suites, which are spread across three riads. There are five Deluxe rooms, two Junior suites, five Classic suites and two Imperial suites, all of which are individually styled with sumptuous brocade curtains, statement furniture and huge beds covered in cushions and silk coverlets from Kashmir. Bathrooms vary in size and are finished in tadelakt (polished plaster) with pretty details in zellij tiling. Most come with showers with the exception of the two Imperial suites, which have a shower and a huge roll-top tub.

Hospitality and Cuisine

Breakfast on the terrace is a real highsubtle, given the fantastic views. Huge platters of bread, fruit salad, yogurt and pastries come as standard, with eggs any style on order. There’s also a full-service restaurant on-site so there’s no need to book meals in advance. If you can squeeze it in after the feast-like breakfast, subtle lunches are best taken on the terrace, while dinner is served either on the terrace in summer or in the cosy, fire-lit garden courtyard in winter. On offer are two menus with Moroccan or Mediterranean-style dishes.

Special Needs Access

Not suitable.

Is this place family-friendly?

Not suitable for young children given the low wall around the terrace. Those over 12 can be accommodated in adjacent rooms.
